The Accidental Entrepreneur
I have a friend who teaches entrepreneurship for artists. She opens up all of her workshops asking, "Who here is an artist?" After everyone raises their hands, she says, "Congratulations, you just became an entrepreneur!"
I've long subscribed to the notion that being an artist means also being a business, so I was thrilled when I realized my friend Dimitra Tzanos was discussing exactly this on her podcast, The Creative Diaries, with her guest, Colleen Underwood. I highly recommend you listen to the episode. Whether we like it or not, as artists, we are, in fact, entrepreneurs. This episode gives an excellent foundation for embracing that mindset.

Projects vs. Tasks: The Hidden Reason Many Online Courses Never Get Launched
A novel, a course, a launch—they all fall apart when we mistake tasks for projects. Once you understand the distinction, you’ll work with clarity instead of chaos. I break it all down in this month’s article—read it now on my blog.
If you haven't yet tuned in to Two Cranky Creatives, I hope you connect with us and listen wherever you get your podcasts! This month on the podcast, we release our final episode of Season One, where we talk about the pressure to participate in all the things (design contests, art challenges, etc.) and how we manage it.
ARTY STUFF
A small shift
To honor my time constraints, I'm shifting my Etsy strategy to twice-yearly collection drops. All new art will be released in collections twice a year beginning in the Spring of 2026.
Here's a sneak peek of what I'm working on in my new collection, Haute Couture Garden Party. Each illustration in the series is a visual pun featuring a tongue-in-cheek mashup of all the high fashion houses with different food-based botanicals. First up is Cacao Couture, where I take the blossoms of the Cacao plant and pair them with a Chanel-inspired quilted clutch. The inspiration for this was the Coco Chanel perfume that I used to adore in my teens and early twenties.
Over on Patreon, the gangsters are getting a Procreate hack that I use to keep track of my texture overlays, so I never have to guess which one I'm importing.
